Pictorial Journey of A Portrait

As with any painting technique, I start with a sketch.

I paint the faces first, to get their eye and hair color before choosing a color for the background.

I changed my mind on this background.

Blocked the background out and started over.

Finished with the blocking , painted in details with the colors chosen, then built up color  blending layer by layer.

Finished Product

This painting was done as a tribute from the classmates from Andalusia High School, class of 66.  We lost our dear sweet friend earlier this year, and this painting hangs at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL in  her  honor.
